Ghajini

Now Lets talk about his latest movie Ghajini the remake of an Tamil movie Ghajini.

First, i want to clear the air, Ghajini is not Memento. Sure, it uses plot devices from Christopher Nolan's memorable debut thriller – Polaroid pictures, tattoos, short-term memory loss – but that's about it. At its core, Ghajini is a muscular masala film with little pretentions.

The movie's promotions promised bloodshed and, yes, there's enough blood spilled to put Rambo to shame. There's also Ravi K Chandran's gorgeously photographed locales, Peter Hein's thrilling action sequences, Aamir Khan's eight-pack physique and an unnecessary footnote performance by Jiah Khan (the movie's script and editor Anthony could have done more justice to her).

But, ultimately, what you will take away with you is not the slam-bam or A R Rahman's jazzy riffs. What you will remember is a love story with a bitter-sweet ending. The action is just the padding, Ghajini's soul lies elsewhere. And full credit for that goes to a sparkling chemistry between telecom tycoon Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan) and struggling ad film extra Kalpana (Asin Thottumkal).

Ghajini works best when Singhania and Kalpana are on screen, enjoying themselves to the hilt. Both of them share some laugh-out loud moments, all the more fun because that's the last thing you will expect in a fist-fest like this. Asin matches Aamir shot-for-shot and even manages to leave his character dumbfounded – no mean feat for a Bollywood debutante. It's no wonder that her murder renders Aamir's character with 'anterograde amnesia' (aka short-term memory loss) and instills in him a rabid fury to hunt down her killers. Cue, eight-pack Aamir who chews, chomps and growls through the scenery, piling up a body count that effectively covers the loopholes in Ghajini's script.

And loopholes there are many. These include a man with a 15-minute memory span having etched – by himself – elaborate tattoos on his body, villains who prefer mostly blunt or heavy objects (instead of guns) to deflect the pocket-rocket that is constantly chasing them, a medical college student – Sunita (Jiah Khan) – who is intended to be Singhania's 'memory' and much more. All these flaws combine to prevent the movie from being the slam-bang entertainer it could have been.

But that's not stopping kids, grandmothers and parents from queuing up to watch the movie. At the time that this review is being written, Ghajini is already running to full houses across India. Many websites are already doing a Shah Rukh – Aamir comparison in terms of pure box office muscle with eight-pack Aamir being well ahead of six-pack Shah Rukh. Expect the comparisons to continue with flamewars breaking out between fans of the two megastars across the internet. Also, like Sanjay Singhania, expect viewers to forget whatever they have read or heard and plan to watch Ghajini. It's that kind of a movie.

On the whole, GHAJINI is a winner all the way. The film will set new records and has the merits to emerge one of the biggest Hits of all times. The weekend business should be historic, the Week 1 business should be unparalleled, the lifetime gross should be amongst the biggest of all times. In short, GHAJINI has 'Blockbuster' written all over it.

MUST WATCH GHAJINI DONT MISS IT.

Rabb ne bana di Jodi

Now Let's talk about Shahrukh Khan's Latest Release "Rabb ne Bana Di Jodi" by Aditya Chopra.
Movie Review: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi;
Star Cast: SRK, Anushka sharma, Vinay Pathak, Kajol, Rani, Preity Zinta, Priyanka and Others;
Director: Aditya Chopra;
Rating: ****

Destiny plays a cruel joke on an extremely enthusiastic young girl Taani (Anushka) as she loses her fiancé and his family in a road accident on the eve of her marriage. Her father, a retired professor, on his death bed requests her to marry his old favorite student, Sur
inder Shahani (SRK). Taani obeys his last wish and thus begins the start of this extraordinary love story between an otherwise ordinary jodi.

The shy, somewhat geeky Surinder has already fallen for Taani since the first time he has seen her but alls his hopes crash when Taani tells him the day they arrive at his house that she won’t be able to give him any love as that’s one feeling she has lost forever with the sudden turn of events in her life. The rest of the film is about how Suri transforms himself into a very hep flirtatious dude Raj to win her love using a dancing school as a platform for his antics. He is well aided with his childhood buddy Bobby (Pathak) who brings on the physical transformation in him. But what happens is Taani who is unaware of Raj being Suri himself ends up falling in love with Raj. Suri is now again in a fix but then he finally decides to take a bold step

Rab Ne has been definitely amongst the most awaited films of 2008 and there have been great expectations ridin
g on it especially because it is Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge maker Aditya Chopra’s comeback film after a long gap of 8 years. The script has its moments and master craftsman Adi keeps you engaged initially with some really beautifully handled moments between SRK and Anushka. But as SRK’s character’s transformation comes in the grip slowly loosens and you start feeling restless with the pace slumping down considerably. What follows is a criss-cross between some really well penned and executed scenes and some really drab moments with badly placed songs acting as speed breakers. But Adi’s terrific dialogues deserve a special applause for touching the right chords.

Shah Rukh Khan is simply superb as first the shy Suri and
then the flamboyant, full of energy, Raj. Newcomer Anushka gets a really well etched character to perfor
m and it despite be
-
ing her first film, she comes across an absolute natural. Vinay Pathak is fun and provides good comic relief.

Music of the film is good but the problem is apart from a very well tuned and picturised Haule Haule number, the
 rest songs appear wrongly placed. The picturisation of the number featuring Kajol, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta and Rani is mind blowing but again it coming at a wrong juncture doesn’t really make it work.

All in all, the film has the capacity to do very well in the North and the overseas but elsewhere the film won’t be anywhere near A
di’s earlier two works in terms of business.
After grossing a record breaking Rs.90 crores in its first week worldwide, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has crossed beyond a phenomenal Rs.30 crores gross in its second weekend. This is by far the highest collection, even surpassing Dhoom:2 and Chak De India, both of which did outstanding business in their second weekend.
The total collections

Maybe, the flick has been witnessing mixed reviews across media channels, but Yash Raj Films is delighted with grand opening. Released on Dec 12, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ has grossed approximately Rs. 60Crores worldwide releasing 1200 prints. The most sensational fact is that the film has surpassed Dhoom-2 that was regarded as one of highest collections of all times.

In the Middle East, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has set a new record altogether as the highest opening film of all-time. The previous highest was Dhoom:2, which grossed approximately $1.86 million across its entire run. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has grossed approximately $1 million on its opening weekend alone.

The film has also received a grand opening across all overseas markets, including the UK, USA, Australia, Europe, Africa, and other territories in Asia.
